Hi, I’m Mizuho. I’m an international student at Thompson Rivers University. The reason why I am studying abroad is that I’m interested in foreign countries because I heard a nice story from my brother and my friends about studying abroad. They talked to me about what they saw, how they felt, and their differences. After talking with them and studying international culture in Japan, I wanted to go abroad to learn about different cultures. This spring, I discovered the university’s program of studying abroad in Canada, so I participated.
My goal to study abroad is to improve my English skills because I will be a system engineer next spring in Japan. The job needs English skills. This is the last chance for me to study abroad because I have to start working next year. Also, I’m not good at using English, especially speaking, and grammar. I’m always nervous to talk in front of people and speak English because I’m afraid of making mistakes. However, people in Canada and my classmates allowed me to make mistakes, so I try hard to use English actively and improve it.
